Our Mission: The Journal of Applied Research and Innovation (JARI)  aims to publish scholarly work that promotes and fosters research based on innovation and creativity in all fields of endeavour. Our focus is on papers that will be influential in their field or across fields and will significantly advance understanding in those fields.


Selected papers should present novel and important data, syntheses, or concepts. They should merit recognition by the scientific and academic community and more generally the general public.

JARI welcomes submissions from all scientific and academic disciplines that have an interest in innovation and creativity. JARI is committed to the prompt evaluation and publication of submitted papers and is published twice per year (February & August - with special editions March of each year) on-line.

JARI accepts the following types of papers:

  1. Research Articles: (up to ~5000 words, including references, notes and captions, or ~5 printed pages) are expected to present a major advance. Nested in a critical review of the literature, these papers highlight empirical investigations. Key components of these papers include the methodology used in conducting the research, a statement of the results, and an analysis of such which lead to the conclusion being stated, implications of the findings, and the possibility of future research opportunities.
  2. Reports: (up to 5000 words including references, notes and captions or ~3 printed pages) present important new research results of broad significance. Reports should include an abstract, an introductory paragraph, up to four figures or tables, and about 30 references. Materials and Methods should usually be included in supplementary materials, which should also include information needed to support the paper's conclusions
  3. Reviews: (up to 3500 words including references, notes, and captions) describe new developments of interdisciplinary significance and highlight future directions. They include an abstract, an introduction that outlines the main theme, brief subheadings, and an outline of important unresolved questions. A maximum of 40 references is suggested. Most Reviews are solicited by the editors, but unsolicited submissions may also be considered.
  4. Commentary: (Up to 3000 words) includes analysis by experts on issues of interest to readers. With the exception of Letters and Comments, most items in these sections are commissioned by the editors, but unsolicited contributions are welcome.


JARI is committed to prompt evaluation and publication of submitted papers. Manuscripts and other submissions MUST be submitted on-line via the Submit Article link below.

The authors are notified of decisions by e-mail only. Repeated submissions of the same manuscript will not be acknowledged. Membership of the JARI or affiliate organizations is not a factor in the selection of manuscripts for publication. JARI treats all submitted manuscripts as confidential documents. JARI also instructs and expects our Board of Editors and reviewers to treat manuscripts as confidential material.

Papers are assigned to a staff editor first, who checks to see that the manuscript 'fits' with the Journal's scope and policies and that the article is viable for peer review. If deemed viable, a select committee of the Board of Editors assigns peer reviewers and considers reviews on receipt. Authors of papers that are notified within about 8 weeks.

Papers cannot be resubmitted over a disagreement on novelty, interest, or relative merit. If a paper was rejected on the basis of serious reviewer error, resubmission may be considered. Peer Review Policy. Decisions made by the Board of Editors are final.

Manuscripts submitted for consideration to JARI must conform to the following Paper Formatting Guidelines that will facilitate the preparation of the article for publication:

Manuscript length must not exceed 6500 words and 25 pages (including text and references).


This journal has a zero-tolerance to plagiarism and unethical behaviour with respect to publishing. Authors must ensure their paper is of the highest standard and that attributions and citations are accurate and the paper is original in its entirety. All papers are systemically reviewed on submission and any detections mean an immediate rejection.

The JARI understands that authors may use (pay for) academic journal editorial services to maximize the potentials of their papers for acceptance through peer review. This journal works with such third parties to enable authors, specifically those from non-English speaking backgrounds, to present papers of a high standard ready for peer review. Such fees payable are not associated with this journal. Please be advised that using and paying for such third parties does not guarantee publication in this journal. This journal has a strict peer-review process. The journal has become very popular over recent years, due to its relevance and leadership in the fields of innovation, creativity, and change. This places significant pressure on our peer reviewer list. This journal, therefore, welcomes authors to nominate suitably qualified peer reviewers for their papers.
